Articulation disorder refers to the production of one speech sound in place of one or more speech sounds
Phonological deviations (also referred to as phonological processes) are patterns of speech errors which impact one or more speech sounds. This may include omissions of sounds, reversal of sounds, distortions of sounds, or substitutions of sounds.
Receptive language refers to how an individual understands language. This includes not only verbal language, but written language as well.
Expressive language refers to the use of language including but not limited to: vocabulary and grammar. Expressive language also refers to language used both via verbal expression as well as written expression.
Social skills (also known as pragmatic language) refers to an individual’s ability to understand and utilize social communication, both verbally and non-verbally.
AAC refers to an individual’s use of alternative means of communication. This may include aided or unaided systems. Aided systems include the use of an external tool/support (varies from low-tech to high-tech). Unaided systems may include non-verbal communication such as facial expressions or gestures.
