Maggie graduated from the University of Colorado – Boulder with her Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology, holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association(ASHA), and is licensed by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Having a younger brother who participated in speech therapy as a toddler, Maggie learned early on the importance and life changing impact speech and language therapy can have on an individual.
Maggie began her career at the Rocky Mountain Autism Center in Lone Tree, Colorado under the guidance of Dr. Patrick Rydell. It is there that she developed a passion for working with individuals (ages 2-23) with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with a focus on implementation of the SCERTS Model (Prizant, Wetherby, Rubin, Laurent & Rydell, 2006). Maggie transitioned to Children’s Hospital Colorado where she focused on Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC), with an emphasis on a multi-modal communication (total communication) approach to develop individualized, functional communication with each of her clients. Maggie was blessed with the opportunity to co-run multiple social skills groups for children ranging in age from 4-6. Following a move due to a relocation of her husband’s job, she has since transitioned to the outpatient setting.
Maggie has experience working with children with a variety of diagnosis including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, developmental delay, phonological and articulation disorders, and receptive and expressive language disorders.
Therapy is tailored to the individual child, with activities ranging from play-based activities to tabletop work in order to meet each child’s needs. Furthermore, our services are provided in the home, allowing skills to be targeted in your child’s natural environment.
We look forward to the opportunity to work with your child to help build the speech and/or language skills needed to create a more confident communicator!
